One of my personal goals for this year is to learn how to be a better writer.  I have not felt that writing is something that comes easy for me.   Most of my great ideas and thoughts come to me while I am in the shower and as soon as I step out of the shower and  go  to write them I seem to lose that natural flow.   I joined a group here in Eugene Oregon that has been started by a wonderful woman, Tami Blodgett.

On our first meeting she asked all of us what we wanted to gain from the group.

For me personally I want to learn how to write from my authentic voice and to trust myself.

I have only been to two meetings so far and at the last one I meet an amazing man that shared one of his poems.  The impact it had on me was so strong I asked his permission to share it with all of you.

I want to introduce to you Gus Daum and his impactful Poetry

WHY by: Gus Daum
You always keep it too hot in here.
Why can’t you be more like me?

That’s a terrible color on you.
They always play their music too loud.
I would never go to a movie like that one.I hate broccoli; tofu salad?
Those people who moved in next door
will destroy home prices.

The Democrats/Republicans are ruining the country.
Kill the umpire!
Get that quarterback! Yeah, we got him good.
Cold dead hands.  Pass the ammunition.
I hate my teacher. I hate Johnny.
She’s wearing that in church!
Why can’t you, why can’t they ———

They are sailing too close to our shores.
I heard there was a spy plane over Kansas.
How dare they build a mosque here in River City!
If we let them just keep building weapons—–
Our oil supply is in danger.
Build more planes; build more tanks.
I say drop the big one on them.

We killed how many civilians this week?
And so many women and children.
Too bad. Really.

If only they were more like us.
